Conducting Workshop with Maestro Paul Nadler

New York Conducting Institute (NYCI) is proud to present a four-day conducting workshop with Maestro Paul Nadler, March 23-25, 2018. Up to 12 conductors will be selected as full participants, and up to ten auditors will be invited as observers. Full-participants will receive at least 45 minutes of podium time over the course of the three days. These will include one session with sextet and two sessions with full orchestra. Participants are highly encouraged to be well prepared and ask questions. All podium sessions will be digitally audio-video recorded.
About Maestro Paul Nadler
Maestro Paul Nadler has distinguished himself as an exciting and highly respected symphonic and operatic conductor. Since his Metropolitan Opera debut in 1989, he has led the company in more than 60 performances. In March 2018, Maestro Nadler will be conducting Richard Strauss' Elektra at the Metropolitan Opera.

Dates and Deadlines

Applications are being accepted now and will be reviewed starting on January 19th, 2018. Applications received after January 19th will be reviewed and processed on a space-available basis. If the class is full, applications will be considered for Auditor status only.
If accepted as an Auditor, s/he may be added to the waiting list for Full Participant status, with the discretion of Maestro Nadler and NYCI. If a Full-Participant must later cancel, tuition will be refunded (minus non-refundable fees) only if a suitable replacement is found.

*The purpose of the piano session is to get attuned to the singer’s voice, her pacing and interpretations, and to get a little practice before leading the instrumental ensembles later on. This session will be led by Maestro David Štech, artistic director of New York Conducting Institute, and will focus on getting each participant comfortable in accompanying the singer and in executing the trickiest of technical transitions. If time allows, auditors may be invited to participate. Prior to this session, each conductor must study the translation and pronunciation of the songs' texts. Participants are highly encouraged to watch a performance or a video of the Berlioz to get a sense of the dramatic intent.
