Orchestral Excerpts for Conductors
Opera and Orchestral Conducting Workshop
with Maestro David Štech

This unique workshop focuses on conducting the most difficult passages of the standard repertoire. Upon mastering these excerpts, they will no longer be a distraction in the context of a performance, rehearsal or audition. This intensive workshop is especially tailored to conductors with potential auditions or with a regular group to work with. This class is limited to 10 participants. Auditors are welcomed.
All sessions will be led by Maestro David Štech. The ensemble comprises highly experienced, fully professional orchestral and chamber players from the New York City area.
Repertoire not listed may be added, as needed, upon participants' request and our approval, after acceptance. Concerto repertoire and other selections may appear on future installments of this workshop.

After the workshop is complete, full participants will have the opportunity to make a professional audio-video recording, at the rate of $300 for each 20-minute session. These sessions will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis, as there are only 8 slots available. Faculty will not be teaching so this will be an excellent chance to compile a portfolio of rehearsal and conducting clips for applications.
Complete instrumentation for the Copland and L'Histoire will be available. The pianist will also be present to play winds and brass parts for other workshop repertoire. Singers will not be present for the recording session.

Applications are being accepted now and will be reviewed starting on October 24th, 2016. Applications received after October 24th will be reviewed and processed on a space-available basis. If the class is full, applications will be considered for Auditor status only.
If accepted as an Auditor, s/he may be added to the waiting list for Full Participant status, with the discretion of Maestro David Štech and NYCI. If a Full-Participant must later cancel, tuition will be refunded (minus non-refundable fees) only if a suitable replacement is found.
